A LITTLE BIT ABOUT Jana

As a native of Colorado, I love the outdoors, particularly hiking with my dog, family and friends. During my travels over the years, I have visited countries in Europe and Asia, and spent a summer in Singapore working with special needs children from all over the world. After completing my undergraduate studies at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, I relocated back to Denver and spent a year providing academic and social-emotional support to at-risk youth in an inner city school for AmeriCorps as a City Year member. These experiences have greatly impacted my view of the world and influence how I work with my clients from all different cultural backgrounds.

Why do clients choose Jana? Here is a bit of voluntary feedback from a few of her clients.

"It's only been a few weeks since I started working with Jana and I've already seen a positive change in my relationships. I feel that I am getting closer to my goals in every session."

"Jana always helps me refocus on the main point when I go off on tangents. She asks questions that actually make me think about why I feel the way I do. This has helped me learn about myself and my emotions"

"Jana has been a wonderful therapist through our entire experience. I really enjoyed her counsel and advice."

"Jana was excellent. I highly recommend her!"

"We saw Jana for couples counseling and were very impressed with her."

Why I am pursuing a career as a Marriage and Family Therapist

During my college years, I joined Colorado State University’s Campus Connections — a program that provides integrated mental health services to youth in the juvenile justice system who have faced a myriad of adversities. As a student-mentor exploring my own mental health at the time, I came to truly understand the importance of genuine connection, emotional safety, and community support. I saw firsthand the positive impact that these relationships had on my life as well as the lives of the adolescents that I was mentoring.

Knowing that our need for connection, safety and a sense of belonging are innate within all of us, I decided to pursue a career that would allow me to help individuals, couples and families discover this in their lives. Communication, trust, and vulnerability are the cornerstones of all healthy relationships and I believe it is never too late to create the relationships and life you are longing for. Growth and positive change are possible. I am passionate about helping couples experience these positive traits in their own relationships.

Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.
