About Us
At our therapy practice, Individual and Relationship Therapy Center, our group of highly trained relationship therapists in Denver, Colorado specialize in couples counseling, individual therapy, and family therapy. We share a common goal which is to provide respectful, ethical, and effective care to you and every client we see. What makes us different?
Our niche is working with relationships - couples counseling, family dynamics, work challenges, your relationship with yourself, sex therapy, and individual counseling to help you understand yourself better. We focus on this niche rather than trying to serve the entire population of people interested in counseling. To ensure we provide every client with the very best experience and facilitate positive outcomes, every member of our team has invested hours and years in advanced trainings and certifications, primarily in Emotionally Focused Therapy. This model of therapy is the only model of therapy with extensive research supporting the long term positive change clients experience. We want you to grow and evolve during your therapy experience with us in a way that will provide you with long lasting benefits.
Our Diversity Statement:
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
At our practice, we believe that healing and growth happen within the context of authentic, inclusive relationships. As therapists who specialize in relationships, we understand that the dynamics of power, privilege, identity, and systemic oppression inevitably shape our clients' lives and our work together.
Because our team is predominantly white, it is important to share that we are deeply committed to the lifelong work of dismantling racism and white supremacy—both within ourselves and within the systems we are part of. We embrace diversity in all its forms, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, and socioeconomic background. We stand for equity and inclusion, and we strive to make our practice a space where every client and every therapist feels seen, valued, and safe.
We know that intention is not enough. Our commitment is to ongoing learning, humility, accountability, and action. We regularly engage in reflection and education around power, privilege, and cultural responsiveness. Our goal is for all who walk through our doors to witness our dedication to this work—not just in words, but in how we show up, how we listen, and how we care.

Individual Counseling
Over the course of the last few years, relationships have experienced an increase in distress and conflict. Many individuals are feeling a greater sense of isolation and loneliness. One of the (few) silver linings of the pandemic is that more people began speaking out about the importance of therapy and taking care of our emotional health. People are now realizing that to seek therapy doesn’t mean you are broken or your relationship is flawed. It simply means you know you want more for yourself or for your relationship. Contact us to see how we can help you during this really difficult time.
If you are seeking Telehealth services only, please note that Telehealth is not a service routinely offered by our therapists. Though we believe telehealth can be a very effective form of therapy, our therapists prefer to sit with our clients in person. When we work with you in person, we are better able to identify, and work with, very subtle shifts in energy, emotion and affect. We often find that opportunities for change live in these tiny moments that often happen so quickly, we would be likely to miss them through a computer screen. Therefore, in order to provide you with the most effective experience as possible, we chose to work in-person.
Behind the scenes support…
Our team relies heavily on the support and hard work of our behind the scenes team member, Michel Barta. Michel supports us and our clients in many important ways that allow us to do the work we love to do with our clients. You can get to know her by clicking the link below.

Our Values and Principles
It takes courage to get started with couples counseling, individual therapy, or family therapy. Sharing private thoughts with a stranger can be anxiety-provoking. We respect and honor how difficult this can be. As a leading therapy company, we are guided by the principle of providing a judgment-free and shame-free environment, ensuring every interaction reflects the utmost respect.
Respect
As our therapy client, you will be treated with the utmost respect in every interaction, from your first point of contact through the completion of your therapy. It is a privilege to be invited into your world in this way and we are grateful for the opportunity to support you.
Judgment Free and Shame Free Care
We realize that inner peace and healthy relationships are achieved by integrating all of our life experiences, including those that have been difficult to talk about. Trusting you will not be judged, or left feeling ashamed, is essential for you to feel comfortable opening up to your therapist. To earn that trust, we will meet you with openness, acceptance, and respectful curiosity at all times. Your therapist will never judge you or your experience, goals, and life desires.
Strengths Based
At Individual and Relationship Therapy Center of Cherry Creek, we believe the strength to heal and the courage to experience change lie within each of us. Resiliency, however, is often masked by the effects of life’s challenges when we feel alone, hurt, sad, or confused. Our emotionally focused therapists help you reconnect with your inherent strengths and empower your courage to work through these challenges so you can create the type of relationship you long for or achieve the life you desire to live.
Private and Confidential
Protecting your privacy and confidentiality in counseling is our top priority. We are discrete and professional therapists who take our ethical commitment to your confidentiality very seriously. We recognize that building a trusting relationship with your therapist is a crucial element to getting the help you need; therefore, we don’t take lightly the profound consequences that could result from even the slightest oversight.
Personable and Relatable
As a new client to our relationship therapy practice, we are strangers to each other when we first meet. We recognize this can be uncomfortable or overwhelming for some. Therefore, the therapists of Individual and Relationship Therapy Center are personable and relatable and will put you at ease quickly so you can gain the greatest benefit from your therapy right away. When your couples therapy or individual counseling comes to an end, we part ways with a unique and lasting bond.
Knowledgeable and Prepared
Our therapists are highly trained in their particular areas of expertise. Every IRTC therapist is engaged in ongoing educational programs to ensure best clinical practice and to remain current with the latest research. Your therapist will spend ample time preparing for your counseling session in advance to ensure you are making progress and experiencing growth at a pace that feels appropriate and fulfilling for you.
Emotionally Safe
Therapy is often about exploring yourself, your relationship, or your life in a new way. It is also often about healing from very painful experiences now or in your past. In all cases, the IRTC therapists create an emotionally safe environment that radiates acceptance, empathy, and compassion so that you can share your most private thoughts and experience the growth you desire. In session, your therapist will be emotionally present and attuned to you and your experience so you feel supported and understood by your therapist at all times.
Office Comfort
At our therapy company, we believe the therapy experience begins the moment you enter our welcoming Cherry Creek center. Consistent with the value we place on respect and privacy, our quiet waiting room offers several seating choices to allow space and comfort while you wait for your therapy session. Additionally, we offer an assortment of coffee & tea, as well as chilled water. Should you arrive at your appointment early, we hope you will find our waiting room inviting and relaxing as you wait for your therapist. Once in session, you will be surrounded by natural light, comfortable furniture, and inviting decorations to make you feel as comfortable as possible while you open up and share your thoughts with your therapist. At Individual and Relationship Therapy Center of Cherry Creek, we strive to make you feel at peace to get the most out of your therapy session.
