Information Covered In Our Call
Emotionally Focused Therapy
All of our therapists are skilled and trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, the approach of therapy that our practice lives and breathes every day. We have a range of experience levels within our team, beginning with our MFT Interns up to therapists who have achieved certification levels as therapists and supervisors.
Therapy Session Length and Structure
Individual Therapy Sessions: 50 or 75 minutes in length
Relationship Therapy Services (couples or family therapy): 75 minutes long
Couples and Family Therapy will consist of a combination of conjoint sessions (all participants present in session) and individual sessions (where the therapist meets with one participant at a time)
Frequency of Sessions
To promote traction and optimize the positive influence of the initial motivation for therapy, we highly recommend weekly sessions. Research indicates that therapy is most effective when time between sessions does not exceed one week. When sessions are spread out over more time, it can feel like therapy has to ‘start over’ each time. We want for our clients to be able to notice results as soon as possible.
Insurance
While we don't work with any insurance, including Medicaid or Medicare, we do accept HSA/FSA accounts. Payment is taken care of with your therapist at each session. If you know that your insurance will reimburse you, your therapist can provide a superbill for this purpose. It is important to note that it is less common for an insurance company to reimburse for couples therapy than for individual therapy.
Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policy aligns with the standard policy in our field. Should you need to cancel your appointment, please do so with 24 hours or more notice to avoid paying the full session fee. Our therapists are held to the same policy. Should your therapist need to cancel your session with less than 24 hours notice, your next session will be provided at no charge.
Next Steps
Once sessions are confirmed, you will receive emails from our Electronic Health Record (PracticeQ) with details about your initial session. These details include our office location and an invitation to our secure web portal where your client information forms are held confidentially. We ask that you please complete your forms at your earliest opportunity to allow your therapist time to review them in preparation of your session.
You will also receive a Welcome Call from your new therapist. This is not a required call and is designed to allow you to briefly connect and get acquainted before you begin your work together.
