A little bit about Jessie

I am a Colorado native who grew up on the eastern plains. Though I am a ‘farm girl’ at heart, Denver has been my home for the past twenty-two years. I love our city and do my best to take advantage of it. My two year old dog, Carson, joined my family from a shelter in 2017 and is often found by my side while out enjoying all that Denver has to offer.

Why I decided to pursue a career in Marriage and Family Therapy

As with many Marriage and Family Therapists, my desire to focus on providing couples counseling was influenced by many important experiences during my ‘first’ career’. For 15 years, I worked as a sexuality educator in the Denver Metro area and witnessed how difficult it is for people to talk about the challenges in their relationships with each other. The ‘risky’ feeling of being vulnerable and opening up to each other prevents partners from sharing what is ‘really’ happening for them. I saw how this left partners feeling alone and helpless, unable to create the type of close relationship they were longing for. I soon realized this frequently happens with all types of relationships - not just intimate partnerships. I began understanding my own relationships differently, as well as those modeled for me growing up. These insights connected me to my core belief that it doesn’t have to be this way and significant positive change is possible. I made the decision to dedicate my career to helping others embrace this possibility and experience the changes for themselves.

My training in Marriage and Family Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy have given me the skills I need to guide couples, families and individuals through this rewarding process of creating fulfilling, connecting relationships.

We don’t have to do it all alone.  We were never meant to.
